Google Earth Says: He Found a Sunken Plane Off the Coast of Scotland
Morton, a Google Earth enthusiast, brought an odd finding to The Mirror. While cruising around on the app he was perplexed to find an image that looked to be an airplane underwater just off the coast of Edinburgh.
Of the finding, Morton told The Mirror it was "incredible and very strange.”
"I was just looking on Google Earth on Monday and, by chance, I came across the picture of the aircraft,” he said. "It looks like it is the sea, just off the coast of Edinburgh. It looks like it is underwater.”
Indeed, the image does look like an aircraft, spotted less than 0.7 miles off the Scottish coast, is underwater. But, Morton is also the first to admit it could just be a glitch.
"I have never heard of any aircraft crashing leaving Edinburgh or that area,” he said. "I know the picture of the plane isn't really in the water, it’s probably the satellite looking down on it through thin cloud giving it that appearance. I thought it was unusual as I've not seen an aircraft in flight captured by Google Earth before. It may just be another Google anomaly."
